What does dual rotary mean on the GT45DR?

The rig has two heads. The Eurodrill RH16X top drive turns the drill string while a Eurodrill RH26X casing head rotates and advances casing around it, so the hole is held open as it is drilled. In loose, wet or collapsing ground that is the difference between finishing a borehole and losing it.

Beyond 850 ft with mud, air or DTH hammer, holding casing through the overburden on the way down.

What casing sizes can the GT45DR handle?

The casing head takes chucks for 3½ in (89 mm), 5 in (152 mm), 6 in (168 mm) and 7 in (178 mm) casing, with a 4 in (102 mm) diverter with hydraulically adjustable compression to direct returns. A dual-head tip-out system and a 30° angled tip-out system make handling easier.

What powers the GT45DR?

A 380 hp Cummins engine and 46,000 lbs of pull-back, with 880 ft of 20 ft rods on board in the standard rod rack and loader.

When is the GT45 enough, and when do I need the DR?

If your overburden stands up, or you can run casing from the table, a single-rotary GT45 is faster and simpler. Choose the GT45DR when the ground collapses before you can case it — running sands, gravels, boulders, or holes that need casing deep.

Does the GT45DR drill water wells too?

Yes. Dual rotary is at its best on water wells through unconsolidated ground, casing all the way to the aquifer.
