What is the MP1200PP?
A single-action 5 × 6 triplex piston mud pump with ceramic liners — the high-pressure pump on most of our rigs.
How much flow and pressure does the MP1200PP deliver?
317 gpm (1,200 lpm) at 580 psi (40 bar), with 1,300 ft (400 m) of head. Figures come from real-world testing on drill rigs and are a guide, not a guarantee.
When is the MP1200PP the right choice?
For deeper geothermal boreholes and water wells, where you need both pressure and the flow to lift cuttings from a bigger hole. Piston pumps cost more to buy, but they are reconditioned rather than replaced, so the price is offset over time — plan rebuild time into the schedule.
Which GTD rigs use it?
The 5×6 triplex is on the spec sheets of the GT45, GT65, GT45DR, GT65DR and X45, and is an option on the GT35.
Should I pair it with another pump?
Usually. A triplex piston pump plus a centrifugal pump covers both high pressure and high flow; in Europe two centrifugals (single- and multi-stage) are more common. GT rigs are configured for dual mud pumps.
