Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information GTD desco collects when you use gtd-desco.com or contact us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We’ve kept it as short and plain as we can.
1. Who we are
This website is run by GTD Group Limited, trading as GTD desco (“GTD”, “we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
- Registered in England and Wales, company number 10974116
- Registered office: 29 Gildredge Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 4RU, United Kingdom
- Head office: Masons Farm, Queen Street, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Kent, TN12 6PJ, United Kingdom
- Email: info@gtd-desco.com
- Phone: +44 (0)1580 388792
We sell mainly to businesses. Even so, the details of the people we deal with — names, work emails, phone numbers — are personal information, and this policy covers them.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and enquiry forms — your name, email address, phone number, company, location or country, and your message, plus anything else you choose to tell us (for example which rig you’re interested in and your timescale).
- Instant quotes — your name, company, email address and phone number, and the rig configuration and options you selected.
- RigLife Master Driller Club nominations — your name and email address, the name of the driller you’re nominating, the company they work for, why you nominated them, and any photographs you send.
- RigLife store enquiries and updates — your name, email address and message; and, if you sign up for updates, a record of your consent (the wording you agreed to, when, and the IP address it came from).
- Emails, calls and meetings — anything you share when you contact us directly or meet us, for example at a trade show.
If you nominate someone else, please make sure they’re happy for you to share their details with us.
Information collected automatically
- Form submissions — when you send a form we record the date and time, the page you sent it from, the pages you viewed on our site beforehand, your IP address, and an approximate location worked out from that IP address (country or city — never your precise location).
- Website analytics — how you use the site: pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, approximate location and similar technical information. Some of this is collected only if you accept analytics cookies (see section 6).
- Server and security logs — our hosting provider records IP addresses and requests to keep the site secure and working.
We don’t collect any special category information (such as health or religious beliefs), and we don’t ask for it. Please don’t include it in messages to us.
3. How we use it, and our legal basis
UK and EU data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use. Ours are:
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to enquiries, prepare quotes and follow up on them | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract; and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries |
| Supply rigs, parts, service and support, and manage our customer relationship | Performance of a contract |
| Run the RigLife Master Driller Club, review nominations and, where approved, publish the nominee’s name, company and achievement | Legitimate interests in running the programme; we’ll contact a nominee before publishing their details |
| Send marketing emails and RigLife updates | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For existing business customers we may rely on legitimate interests to send information about similar products, always with an easy way to opt out |
| Analytics and session-recording tools that use cookies | Your consent (via our cookie banner) |
| Cookieless, aggregated visitor statistics | Legitimate interests in understanding how our site is used |
| Protect forms from spam and the site from attack | Legitimate interests in keeping our site and systems secure |
| Keep business and accounting records, and meet legal and regulatory requirements | Legal obligation |
| Establish, exercise or defend legal claims | Legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve weighed them against your rights and you can object at any time (see section 9). We do not make decisions about you using solely automated means, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where we need to, and only with:
- GTD group companies and authorised dealers — including our offices in the USA, Canada and South Korea — where they’re best placed to handle your enquiry, quote or support in your region. [CONFIRM: are these offices part of GTD Group Limited’s group, or independent distributors?]
- Service providers who process information on our behalf under contract, listed below.
- Professional advisers (such as accountants, lawyers and insurers), and authorities where the law requires it.
- A buyer or investor if all or part of our business is sold or restructured, under the same protections.
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Digital Ocean | Website hosting and security |
| Google Workspace | Email, including sending form notifications |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Protects our forms from spam |
| Google Analytics | Website analytics (only with your consent) |
| Contentsquare (including Hotjar) | Website experience analytics, such as heatmaps and session recordings (only with your consent) |
| Optimole | Delivers the images on our site efficiently; receives your IP address to do so |
| YouTube (Google) | Embedded videos — blocked until you consent to marketing cookies |
| Sketchfab | Interactive 3D models of our rigs |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | Our chat button — only if you choose to use it, in which case WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies |
| Revolut | Payment processing for the RigLife store, once it opens. We never see or store your full card details |
Our visitor statistics tool (Burst Statistics) runs on our own server in cookieless mode, so that data is not shared with a third party.
5. International transfers
We’re a UK business with customers and offices around the world, and some of our providers (such as Google) are based in the United States. When your information is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area, we make sure it’s protected — for example through an adequacy decision (such as the UK–US Data Bridge or EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the recipient is certified), or through the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us if you’d like more detail.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies. Cookies that aren’t strictly necessary — analytics, session recording and embedded media — are only set if you agree through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. Full details of every cookie we use are in our Cookie Policy.
We don’t currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no agreed standard for them; your cookie banner choices are what control tracking on our site.
7. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and quotes that don’t lead to an order | 3 years from our last contact with you |
| Customer, order and accounting records | 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax law requires |
| Marketing and RigLife updates | Until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email address on a suppression list so we don’t contact you again |
| RigLife nominations | 2 years, or for as long as a published entry stays on the site |
| Form submissions flagged as spam | Deleted automatically after 90 days |
| Google Analytics data | 48 months |
When we no longer need information, we delete it or anonymise it.
8. How we keep it safe
Our site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), access to submitted information is limited to the people who need it, and our providers are bound by contract to protect it. No system is completely secure, but if something goes wrong we will act quickly, and we will tell you and the regulator where the law requires.
9. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information deleted, where we no longer have a good reason to keep it;
- restrict how we use it while a concern is looked into;
- object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests — and to direct marketing at any time, without needing a reason;
- data portability — receive information you gave us in a reusable format; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it. This doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email info@gtd-desco.com. There’s no charge, and we’ll reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in each email.
Complaints. We’d like the chance to sort out any concern first, but you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113), or to the data protection authority where you live or work if that is in the EU.
If you live in the United States
Depending on your state, you may have similar rights to know, access, correct and delete your personal information, and to opt out of its sale, of “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, and of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request — yourself or through an authorised agent — email info@gtd-desco.com. We’ll verify your request and respond within 45 days. If we decline, you can appeal by replying to our decision; if we uphold it, you may contact your state Attorney General.
If you live in Canada
You can access and correct your personal information and withdraw your consent, subject to legal and contractual limits. Contact us as below; you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Children
Our website and products are intended for businesses and adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Other websites
Our site links to and embeds content from other websites and platforms (such as YouTube, Sketchfab, WhatsApp and social media). Their own privacy policies apply to anything you do on their services.
12. Changes to this policy
We review this policy regularly and will update the date at the top when we change it. If we make a significant change affecting how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you directly where we can.
